Welcome to ROC's Designs at RachelChilders.com
The individual glass beads and those used as focals in my jewelry pieces are artisan
lampwork beads, made by me in my home studio. As a self-representing artist and
jewelry designer, I use a variety of Italian and American soft glass to craft the glass
beads, with an emphasis on coaxing out multiple colors in one bead, depending on
the light in which it is viewed. Complements of sterling silver and Swarovski crystals
showcase my beads in each piece of jewelry. Often I see people take a second or
third look, seeing something new each time. Depending on the influence of colors in
clothing, skin tones and accent beads, an individual bead yields a variety of hues.
All of the pieces I create are one of a kind, mostly because I can never make a bead
exactly the same way twice! As you can imagine, this makes it impossible for me to
grant specific requests for custom orders. Each bead is, of course, digitally annealed
in my kiln for stability and durability then cleaned and inspected to ensure only the
highest quality beads go from my hands to yours.
